top marks.
isn't there some sort of forum award for posts like that? ha.
:)

just looking at one of these.
the grass is always greener tho! ;)

its human nature to want what you don't have and everybody lives and adjusts this to their means.
whatever that grass may be, you don't even have to of listened to, smelt, touched or even seen that other grass. the mere mention of a rumour about the other grass and you want it, just the same.

its one thing having a few seeds, but something else to turf it all up and bring it home. pretty soon the grass on the other side wont grow no more.

and thus ends that bizzare analogy.

piracy is always an interesting and provocative topic for me, this is close enough.

The other way to go is the new 500 series 527.

http://www.apiaudio.com/527.html

Buy one for 995 now and add another when you have the money.  It would be expensive to DIY something like that but its a 1/2 2500.    Down side is its surface mount.  Just use it, don't modify it.  You could have it tomorrow, working.

Interesting point Dough. And I really mean interesting, not "stupid but Iam trying to be polite here". Iam quite new at DIY, and I have to admit, when I saw the title of the thread I thought: yeah, let's build a 2500! After reading your post, Iam having second thoughts. Not saying I won't if I would get the chance, not saying I will. But what about this: I (and probably more members on this forum) would never buy a real 2500. Not just a matter of not having the budget, but a matter of priorities (either our own or from members of our family). So technically that would mean that if I would build one, for my own use, end were not to sell it, that I would not harm API in any way, even if I made it look exactly like an  2500?

Of course, this would rely on all people doing this (building just for personal use), wich might not happen, but still...

Sorry about hijacking/kidnapping the thread btw, but I really feel this is an interesting topic. Both actually, so let me know if someone is building a 2500, I can always decide not to join  ;D
