I'm getting started on bringing one of these back in action after sitting for a long time. So far I've recapped the power supply. I've been able to get signal from the preamp out on a few channels. And I got the echo send to work. It's a 17-channel, 4-bus, 110a.
I've read many threads on this and have ordered an acopian psu for the +/- 15v. I plan to use the stock psu for the 24 and order something else for the phantom since that is broken.
I am putting in an order of a few parts and wanted to ask suggestions. I plan to start by replacing the electrolytic caps.
IC chips - I know there are many suggestions of upgrades but at the moment I'd like to just get this working. Is there a point in replacing these even if they work? Do they get old like capacitors? Mine is full of LM301, LM318 and LM709. I have located the 301s and 318s on mouser, but the 709s appear to be a special order.
tantalum caps - i've seen suggestions here to replace these
I can't seem to get any of the channels I've got working to send to the program or master bus or show anything on the meters. I wonder if there's an issue with my MC4 module. That's why I was thinking to replace the ics in these. There's not much else in there. I don't have the correct schematic for this. I have schematics from a 24 channel, 8 bus, and the mc4 module from that looks different. On the one I have, when you press pgm 2 and 3, that becomes the master send.
