Balanced Guitar/Bass Pickups

I've never done it, but there's no reason why you couldn't. Outside of imbalances in winding capacitance (fairly minor), a passive guitar pickup isn't intrinsically "unbalanced", it's just usually wired that way.
 
The thought stemmed from my inability to add an instrument DI jack to my push pull balanced mic pre designs.

Then, I thought, well if you used "twinax" and fed the pickup wires as a pair to the grids of my tubes it would be cool. I'll have to test that someday.=)

The stuff after the diode-bridge in the 33609 would be a nice balanced Hi-Z to mic-TX I think. Basically two CFP's, like most people are doing for an instrument-input in 'studio gear' (and why not :cool: ).
 
I was going to normal the xfmr secondary to the tube grids for mic mode, and insert the instrument DI into the grids directly from the pickup for instrument mode. (maybe a coupling cap or 2.)

I see, say G9-style, and no added semi's.
 
Floating pickups works great for low impedance types

Plugs direct into any mic level input :grin:
