I did this simplu VU project kit and it used 12V DC. Doesn't seem to introduce any audible noise. What about all the PCI cards these days running inside of computers? I know I talked to the Aardvark GUI interface developer and he was saying it is best to keep it out of the box and thats why most everything uses a breakout box with alot of I/O
Doesn't seem to stop some card manufacturers from doing soundcards in drive bays. What about a simply headphone amp and a VU meter setup inside an EMI shielded case running under 12V DC?
So many PC cases simply suck, and could have better features ya know?
I will be sure to keep any Pro Audio DIY out of harms bt not using PC power. G1176 boards on the way!! I am so excited to get going. I have been using the UAD-1 plug in's for years and there cool but they remind me of diet coke, close but there is still that after taste.
I am pretty happy about grabbing up these enclosures for dorking around with. I am getting pretty good with a dremmel (LOL) and you can mess up as many times as you want at the price I got these for. Also I saw your sweet drill press and I had to get one and boy does it help!!!
I will be sure to do these DIY's justice with front panel express.
Question: I really like the AC meter that your using on your first proto G1176 what brand is that and were can I get it for this project?
Question: I want to keep cost down on DIY fir front panel express, what is the label print thingy your using? Any advice on that for a nice looking result like yours, it is a god 20$ more for printing and I plan on doing alot of DIY until my studio has some real tube gear instead of (Plug In's) and solid state Pre-Amps
Thanks!
