FWIW, This page has an inside view of the stereo mytek AD/DA units:

joel, ive got the files from Svart of the layouts but they wont open in Circuitmaker, which is weird cause thats what he used to creat them. i''ll get them posted ASAP after i find out from him.

I'm at home now and don't have the files with me, I'll check them again tommorrow to make sure they are ok. I'll be trying to get a version of Ad*be to make PDFs out of them too.

I'll get back you.. :thumb:

*update*

and here are the pdf's

keep in mind that i dont think these are to scale.

svart, can you give me a outside dimension on the main board so i can scale it to that and then re-export?

actually i just printed the layout and compared actual parts to the pads and it is actual size. no scaling needed. It is not however, mirrored in any way. You'll need to verify the way you print it out to make sure you'll be transferring it correctly.

Hi.

What about this idea of removing the mic preamp section:

I changed some things in my little behringer mixer and i like the idea of removing smd resistors to make new connections.. at least for me... it works. And the mixer is working since month... without problems... ahem... whats that smell?... smoke! :green:

The idea is to remove the 10k series resistors of the line input, so you can connect two wires here (inverting and non inverting signal). The next connection to the following opamp (TL074) are for example the 825ohm resistors. (looks like an emitter-resistor). So when they're removed we have the point to connect the line input to the opamp...

For disconnecting the micpreamp section from the opamp it should be better to remove some parts... (see the red crosses)

So the mic input isn't working anymore, but the line input is symmetrical. Should be doable in an hour and we don't need to cut traces.

comments?

Frank.

Wouldn't it be easier to attach directly to the frontboard/mainboard wireing?

And you'll need to keep the two 10K series-resistors at the line input - they would form a part of the opamp input circuit to keep it working right.

I haven't seen any ADA8000 from the inside until now. So I don't know whats easier. At the moment i don't need to do this modification myself, but i was asked how to do it.
When the 10k's still needs to be there I thought about removing the smd resistors and wire a new 0207 type resistor between the two connections.
Then the 10k resistors are still infront of the opamp then.
like this: (not an ada8000)

I thought the best idea would be to disconnect any connections to the preamp section. While wiring from the input jack to the opamp the preamp is still connected to the line input jack?
But... there is a ribbon cable between the front and main pcb right? So it could be easier to cut two wires (inverting and non inverting input from TL074) and wire two 10k resistors after the 47µ caps while desoldering the 10k smd resistors. Sounds easier to me? Good or bad idea? :?:

Frank.

is it really worth it though, aside from the problem's with getting the level's consistant according to my ears and rmaa, those things aren't hosing the a/d that much... ?

Would the difference be night and day

No, it wont, IMO.

It's basically a decent construction, not over-stressing any of the half-decent components used.

But you'd get the benefit from legitimizing the use of the unit, as it would no longer be a Beh*..

I read Beh. is preparing legal action against people who AND bash them in public AND still keep using their gear in unmodified form. :?

BTW, to share legal costs & stand strong together they've already teamed up with Mack. and have started negotiations with all manufacturers of starved-plate gear about joining the coalition

But kidding aside, how about some rebadging of gear that's been modded ?
Or did anyone ever try some regraving yet ?

Bye,

Peter
