I have a blown capacitor on my Phonic MAX 1600 Amplifier. I want to replace the capacitor, but I can't read the numbers on the cap since it is blown apart (see pic).

1. Does anyone have a schematic/service manual for this amp that they would be willing to share with me?
2. Could someone with this same amp open theirs and let me know what is written on cap C1 in the picture?
3. There are scorch marks on both of the bridge rectifiers (large square silver objects with 1 hole in the center of each) and on the board (see arrows in picture). Does this mean that the rectifiers are bad or is the cap at C3 also bad? (There are no scorch marks anywhere else on the board or on the rectifier).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Paul

Looks like small ceramic 100n disc caps (104 printed on them).
They remove some switching noise from the diode bridge.
I see several of those caps around the rectifier blocks.
They sometimes just fail, maybe from voltage spikes.
While the amp will work ok without them, it's best to replace the burned ones.

Leo,

Well, I must have an additional problem then since the unit will not power on anymore. There is significant carbon scoring and buildup on the main power switch. There might even be enough carbon on it to interfere with the circuit. I will check the switch. But, if the switch is OK, how should I proceed to locate the bad component? The rest of the board looks fine and I see no other scorching or bulging capacitors or any visible indication of trouble.

Thanks Leo,
Paul
