Well the 1178 did go trough a couple of rev as well. When I compare the schematics found on the JBL website at least A to J.
I have a orignial paper copy of the rev A manual and the first difference i have found regards the "Input level F.P."
In the rev J a 10K pot is used, but the rev A has a different design using a t-600 attenuator if I understand the schematics correctly.

I know there is an old discussion attenuator vs potentiometer but the question is what you guys think is the best choice for the 1178? I lean towards using a attenuator, perhaps the ones from CAPI or Hairball.
