Buying on Reverb

Yes this is the WORST element- I can sympathize with someone who is obviously a storage lot purchaser/flipper, who genuinely doesn't know how to test a Roland SVC350 vocoder (on eBay I look at people's other sale items) but when your reverb account name is "music studio genius" or similar, you have RACKS of vintage studio gear in the backround and you claim "I did not run any signal through this reel to reel at all, but it seems like it's in good shape" ... it's pathetic.

Having been burned that way I now read "untested"/"unable to test" as "broken and likely not possible or cost effective to repair"

bought a "working" ev20 elektrovoice. Had to replace all the foam and capsule. Still was a little less than a new one. So happy to resurrect a mic instead of wasting resources for a new one

PSA: There are rampant scams occurring on Reverb recently due to a change in the way payments are made - sellers can choose unilaterally to not use the 'Reverb Payment' option, which means they receive your funds directly and immediately when they enter a tracking number with seemingly no easy recourse for a refund. If you see a popular/rare item listed at a too good to be true price, it likely is! There is a subreddit r/reverb that has a lot of listings for scams and issues.

True happened with friend recently. Scammers upload expensive gear like la2a way below the market price and then dissappearing with your money. You can get back if paid with paypal but not immediately,you have to wait a long Time usually.
