BTW, to my ears a U87 doesn't sound quite as impressive, or big if you will, as a U67.
Could it that the bigness and mojo of the Sowter iron in the Stam Audio 87 brings it somewhat closer to the U67?

Henk, I completely agree about modern mixing. Not sure if modern mixing is more the result of technology (outboard gear availability & DSP) or the fact that most people's listening environments don't allow for too much "space" between instruments (and voice).

@TLRT: Have you compared the AMI and the FAB transformers?

This BV12 not yet(package arrived today:) I helped Chris with testing his other models,he has now Bv8, Bv8Fet,Bv11,Bv12,but it would be too offtopic to review them here:) What I can say I'm really satisfied with all his products!

What BV12 like transformers are machine wound and what ones are hand wound?

I would guess the machine wound would work better with the 67 circuit.

Gus, I can't really contribute because I don't know who hand winds and who machine winds but I'm curious why the U67 would see a difference between the two.

Are you thinking consistency in windings (output vs feedback)?
