I'm curious again ;) , maybe someone knows this stamp on this beautiful NOS GE 6J7? It looks quite military, what does STTA or HC mean??

A tube with a similar stamp, here from the Bundeswehr (German armed forces).

Any chance it might have come from some old French gear, despite being GE-made?
Yes, that is very possible👍. That would fit, because a lot of American military technology came to Europe with and after WWII. This also brought countless replacement tubes(organised by government agencies like STTA)., which ended up in private hands and ultimately on ebay after they became technically obsolete.

Now, I'm curious too: What is a Soderstrom SA70CM? that uses such an exotic valve?
;-)
😅

It's a microphone preamp based on the GATES SA70 (again:cool:) with some (optional) modifications, hence the CM suffix, which identifies it as part of my Classic Modified series.

I have already built several of these amps in different versions (member @emrr got me hooked), and these experiences have been incorporated into this design.

There will also be an MV, a modern version, with SS output instead of the OPT.

Stay tuned, if there is interest, this time I will also (for the first time) provide a professionally made circuit board in addition to the self-etch files.

Interested! Big fan of octals. I've got a SE guitar amp bought from someone here that uses a similar setup (not perfectly identical tubes though) with a single octal triode and an octal pentode.
I love those American steel tubes! No glow means, low prices! Pssst, don't tell anyone!;)

6J7/1620 and also the incredible 6C5 and 6J5 are unbeatable in price in the steel version.

But the European high nobility (EF37a) also fits in well here!
