Hello all. Would this be correct or are the diodes not necessary.

Thanks everyone!

Hello Brandon,

I see a shortcut for all transformer windings...

Regards Andreas

Hey Andreas,
I don't know if the schematic is right or not. First one I have ever made. really I just want to know if I need diodes if I have two output transformer going to the same out. Or out they not necessary. Thanks.

You don't need the diodes. Diodes in an audio circuit are going to rectify your signal. You don't want this. Get rid of the diodes. What are you trying to do here? DW.

Looks like casrec is trying to get two types of output transformers in a signal path. By switching S1 he could either use TR1 or TR2 to get different flavor I suppose. Actually it looks like a really good idea.

I would personally use a more complex switch, like Lorlin 4x3, to switch both the input of the TR and the output at the same time. This would insure you always get the correct output impedance. I don't have much experience in electronics but I'm sure if you connect 2 transformers in parallel it will mess up your output impedance.

Yeah, he should add a switch to primary of T1 and T2, so he can choose which transformer he wants.
I'm not sure about the secondary side of T1 and T2, he should probably add switch there too.

Hi

This is how I would connect 2 different output Transformers to the same amp output using a 3x2 switch to switch between the two.

Please excuse the untidy diagram.

That looks right. Very cool option! I was thinking of the same thing for a future project after seeing (or rather hearing) the Shadow Hills mastering compressor. Amazing unit! The choice of input and output transformer is one of the great things about it...

Which project is this for btw?

thanks for all you help guys.  This is for my own design of the 1176 Rev F. I want to switch between OEP And a Carnhill on the output. We'll see what happens.

i would find somebody to check your work before you plug it in.
messing with the mains is serious bidness.

then, after you get your supply going, you can try and kill your self with 24 volts dc, which will be nearly an infinite order safer than wiring the primary.

i'm jus sayin...

Thanks for the help Matthew! Found my 3PDT switch and I think it's going to work great!  ;D

Cool, have you thought about stereo?

You would need more poles on that switch if you wanna switch a stereo output with one switch.

Is you unit mono or stereo?

J

Only Mono but stereo linkable. I just wanna be able to switch transformers. Again thanks for the help. I will let you know how it turns out. Putting the finishing touches on this batch of PCB's and should have them in a couple of weeks!

I can see where your coming from CJ.........thank his omnipresent it is only signals here.....transformers being a universal item .
The Big Bang and all that........does look like a mains hookup on first glance !
