I've just seen my first capacitor that looks just like an 1/8th watt metal film resistor.  I opened up my akai sampler to do some troubleshooting and everywhere I figured there'd be a ceramic cap, there are these little caps that look like an 1/8 watt resistor, colored bars and everything.  I've never seen these.  Anyway it looks like I have two that have failed/cracked and could be my problem, but I don't have a way to know exactly what uf they are because I don't know what kind of cap they are or how to read them. I've got the schematic which says they should be 0.047uf caps but you never know.  So any advice on what these are and how to read them? All I can say is they are some kind of axial cap.

This may help:

Yup, these are axial caps , ceramic I'm pretty sure...  We used boat loads of these in the good old days at Peavey because they were machine insertable with the same machines as resistors.

Back when components had those silly long leads on them... that we just cut off and throw away.
