Good day all,

I just got in more EA2622's from Ed. So, stock has been updated at the store.

EA2503's are scheduled for end of this week or beginning of next.

Cheers!
Jeff

Hi guys (and gals?),

I received my latest version, 812d board today. BTW, the FedEx drivers by me lack some directional skills. That's a story in it's self. Anyhow, I plan on populating and testing tomorrow. I want to be sure all the changes and tweaks are spot on before I order a large *** quantity.  :D

Maybe I'll post a few pics if anyone cares to see.

Cheers, Jeff

Yes, pic's would be great. Give me your Fedex driver's phone number and I will tell him exactly how to get to ClassicAPI in Reading, MA. It's very easy. Bruno, the night watchman, will gladly sign for all packages. DW.

Hey guys,

Here's a bit of 812d ****o for you.  ;D

Raw boards.

The first thing I wanted to do was check the layout for the small daughter board that is home for the 6-10K log pots. Everything fits and lines up properly.

I had to push the solder tails for 2 Molex headers in about 1/16" for a good connection. They would have to be cut below the daughter board anyhow as there is very little clearance.

I also cut the tails on the pots before I soldered them so they protrude as little as possible. Again, clearance.

Again, the small board is set up for Bourns 51 series pots. I have all I need for my build so I wanted to make it easier. If other pots are used, a few jumper wires to the holes were the Molex connectors are on the main board will be needed.

OK, back to work ;)

Cheers!
Jeff

A small update,

I'm all set and time for a little testing before dropping the DOA's in. No sense in blowing up a Huntington

I have to re-seat the bucket back into the console frame for testing. That will take a little more work as I have to terminate my Dsub insert point connectors and connect all required wiring back up to the bucket.

Now you can see where and how the 12 space GDIY racks with the Dsubs will come in handy! Channel insert point eq's!!!

Smooth sailing so far.

Cheers, Jeff

I can't find the thread about troubleshooting and assembling in The Lab, what's the direct link? Maybe it's a good idea to post a link on the original #1 post in this thread.

Here's the build/support thread link for the gar2520. I will edit it into the first post too. Good idea. I also include a link in the READ ME file of the support zip that is sent out.  ;)

Cheers, Jeff

Is there any thread related to the whole preamp-project? I think I have seen one around here, and not only to the gar2520 thread. Would be great to have easily available too.

Hey Osse,

I did not get the email notification that you posted this! Sorry for the delay.

Here is the build/support thread for my VP2x projects.

While I am at it, here is the build/support thread for the 2-ACA-Bo project.

I'll put these in the 1st post of this thread as well. Again, good idea.  ;)

Best, Jeff

Hello everyone  :)

I just received a UPS Quantum View update from Ed. I got a box coming that is 56 pounds! ;D It must be an ***-load of wonderful EA2503 output transformers!!!

Again, I will send an email out thru the store software when I have them in hand. Looks like it will be next Wednesday!

Cheers all and thanks to Ed  ;)

HI Jeff,   some news about 812d cards?
Cheers!
Hey Dan and guys,

Progress is slow at this point. I have had the Rev A.1 board fully populated and ready for testing for a while now. I wanted to load it in the bucket for mute/solo logic testing. I need a least 2 channels for this and prefer to do it in the bucket. Wait, that sounds a little weird.

Anyhow, I decided to complete the trafo daughter boards before dropping the bucket back in the frame. I also wanted to finish the 32 Molex to Molex jumpers that connect the trafo boards to the channels via the motherboard.

Next, I want to complete the 32 fader jumpers which requires the moving and re-pinning of all 32 channels of 8-circuit Molex connectors that come from the main wire loom. This is a small PIA bu needs to be done. At that point, I will drop the bucket/motherboard in and connect all the monitor side buss tracks to the main side for audio testing and comparisons.

Lot's of other projects going on too simultaneously which equates to "slow progress"!  ;D

On another note, Pan60 over at GS has an assembled VP26 with 4 different DOA's from members here at the Forum. He got it last week. We are just starting a little interview process that will include Ed, Gary, Scott, Pier and myself. Pan60 is of course completing a full product review in the way only he can! Should be quite fun and interesting not to mention some good "kudos" to our great forum here.  ;)

Best!  :)
Jeff

Hello Jeff,

I see from pictures of your VP2X preamps that the DOA sockets are a lot shorter than the ones I always use and see others use as well.
Do you have it soldered a different way maybe? or is it just an optical illusion?

Thanks

mike
