Fitting for the brewery
I got a client who using a very specific model of powered jbl’s when working. While the model is discontinued, you can still get parts. However the client is ridiculously particular. The first 2 years of production components were made in the USA. After that production went to Mexico.  He insists up and down that the USA tweeters sound better and that we can only fix speakers with USA tweeters. 🙄 if it has a Mexican made tweeter, no way Jose.
Scouring the net, finding USA made tweeters is almost impossible. if we find any they are often in bad shape as I have yet to run into new in box.

I suspect most of his it sounds better is because he is told they sound better.
So what to do?
Just use Mexican made tweeters?  Sneak in a pair and see if they notice? Or do we go down the rabbit hole of time to find a new monitor?

Bullshit is a far more powerfull influence , tell him you can source a set of USA made tweeters but its X10 the cost of the repro units , convince him to try the 'Mexi' units ,' no satisfaction '

Build it with Mexican tweeters and tell him you'll replace them when and if you find the "original" ones?

I would be honest, according to him what makes the USA tweeters better? I mean, are they hand made or what? if not, what is the difference?

No one can deny there are possible differences due to different jigs, different skills, possible ECO's, when moving production.
Will this customer make you accountable for the fact these tweeters are unobtainium?

Its academic if you can't get NOS USA tweeters.

Do what you can do, and let him whine about it... Tell him of course he is correct. :-(

Might be time for him to find a new favorite speaker.

Thought if that too,  but the moment there is made in Mexico he has a fit.

There isn’t one according to jbl. But the owner insists there is.

no. He knows they are nearly impossible to get. Main reason is they are easy to break.  I don’t think waiting for unobtainium is an answer. I am more practical about it, especially when all you can get new is made in Mexico tweeters from Jbl.

Yes, might be time to speaker hunt. The best was listening to the multiple units of the same model the other day. Was using steely Dan and wanted it in mono to have exact information on both sides when testing.  Couldn’t get the mix to collapse into mono completely. Which was a whole other issue.
But anyway.  I see 2 courses of action here, Mexican made tweeters and suck it up butter cup or find a new monitor.

If he has a fit when seeing a "Made in Mexico" label, make him source the tweeters?

Honestly, with customers like that, I don't waste my time. I make it clear from the start there are things I simply won't/can't do.

It sounds a bit like the one crazy customer I used to have. He was convinced the Russian lover his wife had, broke into his network. His wife probably didn't have a lover, let alone a Russian one, and there wasn't anything remotely interesting on his network.

It ended when I investigated his iphone and stumbled on the fact he had not one, but six mistresses, including an Albanian one.

I told him to go see a shrink. Obviously, I haven't heard from him since. Hasn't paid his last bill either...

Some strange fish in the sea CY  :) it was obviously a reflection of his own guilty conscience eating away at him .

I remember a buddy of mine in IT was draughted into to investigate anomalies on a computer network related to a brewery here , turned out the managing directors son was hosting a ton load of porn on the company network. I think in the end he just furnished I/P addresses and details of what was going on without actually naming names, anyway back to chasing tweeters .

It maybe more of a mental block your customer has , a little placebo effect could go a long way in softening his cough , just saying  ;D
