If you haven't seen the film, there's a trailer here: Theremin - An Electronic Odyssey

It contains interviews with Dr Bob Moog and Brian Wilson, amongst other luminaries. I found the film very moving.

I've been meaning to acquire a Theremin for years now. I have no excuses for not doing so really, except the price of RCA Theremins, which has gone through the roof, and the RCA-type being the one I'd go for.

The RCA must be reverse-engineered... IIRC, there's a website with drawings for an RCA somewhere - anyone remember?

edit - Got it: http://www.vcomp.co.uk/manuals/theremin/theremin_service_manual.htm

I have been visiting the Terman library for the last few days.
He talked H and P into not going back east to the conglomerates of RCA, GE, Westinghouse, etc, and instead encouraged them to stay here and do a start up.
Next to open up their garage was the Varian Brothers, if I am not misteakened.

The rest ....as they say......... is a major traffic jam, high rent, and high maintenance women.

Terman is mentioned at the end of Arthur C. Clarke's Glide Path, still one of my favorites of his books. Science fiction about past technology.

Peace,
Paul
