My current system uses JBL 2441 comp drivers but I'd like to find something a bit less weighty as these puppies are 24lbs even before adding a horn and a box. I'm attracted to the neodymium 2435HPL drivers but whilst I can find any amount of gushing descriptave stuff on jblpro.com about them, I can't find any actual hard specs. It is described as having a 75W AES power rating wheras the 2441 is shown as 70W@500Hz, 150W@1kHz program and half those values for pink noise. I cannot find an apples vs apples comparison. What I really need to know is in my system, crossed over at 1200Hz & 24dB/oct, will there be any downsides in terms of power capacity or sensitivity in upgrading to the beryllium drivers ?.
