I've just ordered parts to make myself the 16x2 summing box from Peterson Goodwyn's DIY site (http://www.diyrecordingequipment.com/4203/how-to-build-a-diy-passive-summing-box/). I've just found out, though, that the crosstalk will increase if some of the inputs don't have active circuits attached (e.g. hooking up two 8 channel DAs with one of them turned off). Given the resistor values I'm using (6.8K for the inputs, 182 for the outputs) and the fact that I'll be using a standard mic pre to make up the gain (either a FMR RNP or two API Classic 312s), is there something (other than building an active summer) that I can do to keep the crosstalk as low as possible???
Also, how much will the crosstalk increase for every pair of inputs that remain unconnected?
P.S. I'm a musician, not an engineer, so forgive my naiveté! I'm also a newbie, so if there's a thread that covers this, please point me to it. I've done some searching but may have missed it.
