Okay Guys,

I'm new around here, but I have a couple of questions to ask.  First off, has anyone built the Drip Fairchild, and if so, how did it go?  Lastly, and more importantly, I want to build my own monitors for mastering.  I want something comparable to the monstrous Dynaudio M4...  I am putting these monitors in a big room, probably flush mounted.  I am having a tough time figuring out what brands of crossovers are really high quality, and I am flexible on brands of speaker.  I would like to choose one brand of crossovers and one brand of speaker preferably.  What I am thinking is that these monitors are going to be passive for sure, symmetrical, and big.  I want to mount 4 12's, four 6's and one nice tweeter smack dab in the middle.  I will build the boxes out of 3/4 inch plywood or particle board.

Best,

JAM

No one has built the Drip Fairchild.  The first round of boards have not shipped yet and the Sowters will not be shipping until the end of the year.  I'd expect to see the first builds in February.

I'm saving up for my Drip Fairchild.  I'm not going to start until I have enough for at least half the cost.  I'm looking forward to how they turn out though.

diy monitors.... it's been discussed,. There is much info on building speakers on the net. Start reading. There is too much at play. Your crossovers will ultimately be determined by what speakers you use.  If you plan to build start doing homework. If you plan to buy talk to the gearslut people and hear too many opions to come up with a conclusion. If you ask me I would suggest looking at mastering houses and see what they are using. to give you an idea... I bet you will be surprised.

You can start from this first http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=12511.0
Must say that it works like a charm  :)
Regarding Fairchild I think that you should start with something more simple or something with forum support. Sorry I don't know are you experienced DIY-er but since you have 1 post I presume that you have no experience .
Also, it's nice to add some more details in the profile. State, occupation, blah, blah  :)....

Always wanted to build these:
