Hi guys,

I found this over at the KVR forum, http://www.kvraudio.com/diy/index.php?topic=3603889

I thought you guys might like it, i know frank from NRG has a few originals.

It looks like an EMT style plate reverb, it cost him 250 Euro....!

I would love to build one someday.

By the way, whats the going rate for an original EMT Platereverb Mono or Stereo version these days?

Here's another one too.....  :p

I read that the Echoplate is an improved version of the EMT plate reverb.......

Can some knowledgeable person explain more in detail.....?

Like are they the exact same physical dimensions, chassis + actual plate?

Stainless over cold rolled steel mabey?

Or would the improvement be in the pickup and driver?

Thanks,

Dfer

I'm not convinced that the one someone made with a wooden frame is going to be too good.  The tensioning would be all over the place with the change in humidity & temperature.

I have an Ecoplate.  In terms of the pickups, driver & frame there are not really any significant differences to the EMT that I can see, apart from that the clips that tension the plate are much more meaty & are never going to break.    The dimensions of the box are a bit bigger than an EMT.  The sound brighter due to the stainless steel plate.  The amplifier uses op amps.

Anything else you want to know ??

Rob what are the dimensions of your ecoplate? You have the 1st revision right?

There seems to be barely any info on echoplate stuff online, except this -

On the platereverb site Jim Cunningham has very kindly put up details on building your own plate reverb, would i be right in saying that thats the 2nd revision of the echplate yeah? Its dimensions of the plate are way to big to be an ecoplate 3
