Hi Fella's, I hope this is in the correct section, what started out as a DIY Emt 140/echoplate project, morphed into this when mistakes were made, i think it's pretty cool ala BBC QRD/skywalker sound? you can check out further details here.

That's so nice! I want to make a few... those are PRD not QRD if I'm right, no?

Nice job, excelent holder!

Thanx joaquins, I believe they are BBC qrd skylines if i remember correctly? it's been a while since i built the 6 periods. look up "qrd dude", it's great software to help design. Here's the other 2 frames i just finished 10 minutes ago

I've seen QRDude... I'm thinking in build 2D QRD because wheight, cost, work, and an acoustical property that may be or not desired, it concentrate more the difussion, so if you want to use them to create a nice verb they are more effective in quantity needed to get nice reults, so a small space could be diffused with a few of them. Also is easyer to go to lower freq. Ofcourse if I could build a buch of 3D and have someone to carry them I wouldn't think about it... Maybe I do a couple of PRD to the ceiling...

You could make them out of the blue extruded polystyrene? very light and tough(ugly), i thought long and hard about 1d vs 2d, my conclusion was 2d, due to the fact that my room is 19.5' long and 16.5 wide in the back and 13.5 up front, and the dreaded 8' ceilings. I like a live sound, but "wasting" the diffusion by sending it up and down, is a good thing IMV, too much energy maintained in a smallish room, will make it sound...small? I'm trying hard to fool the room into sounding bigger. I'll let you know my results when i'm done building all this stuff, and get a chance to test it.

Mine is 5m x 2,4m x 3m, my idea is to make sorter the 5m in order to get some better relation, for mixing a little difussion in the back and death in the rest of the room, for recording use the diffusors in any room to create some space around the 'DUT' and enhace it sound a bit.

I've developed an absorber material with a cheap and ecological thing and want to build some absorbers from it. I've tested and coef are similar to comercial options and better in low freq... I know, you want to know what is this magical thing... well, nothing strange nor new, rice husk... not easy to get to anyone but very easy to me and I get it at industrial cost.

Waiting for your results.

JS

PS: I'll see about polystyrene, it could be finished so it wouldn't be a problem... it's unknow absortion make me think it twice.
