My buddy Duffy Weber over at Hula Cow Studios decided to spontaneously create an ORS 87 board, too.
This is really what I was hoping for... that people would get excited by this project and want to jump in, take part and make something. Duffy's never done a mic before but he's designed stuff like T-power to Phantom adapters and I can tell that now's he's gotten bitten by the mic DIY bug, he's hooked. He also adapted a 10db pad board from another project of his for this circuit as a daughterboard. So, fun stuff happening.
Thanks for sharing this @Wordsushi. Your videos led me to build a radical mod of this circuit from Duffy. It was a great idea to instigate, the 'Lei87', designed to fit a TLM103 body! I finally had success in building this mic and made a video for audio sample. I also put Ari's 3rd gen U87 capsule in it. Lastly, I put it through a Jensen Twin-Servo style preamp. You can see my video on it here...https://youtu.be/cOJE1qucWWE?si=MBOpnsQDITZDMEv1

Or, you can listen to the attached WAV file...

Decided to give a go about building one myself with @Khron PCB:)
Body will be Weston 87 (have silver and black on the way, were quite cheap with a discount code coming at about 15€ each shipped) and Neutrik 10/3 + Green Aliexpress capsule.
We will see what goes wrong and what will be learned when the rest arrives :ROFLMAO:

Difficult to say anything as he is not talking to the mic very perpendicularly...
@mhelin the 150mm wide angle lens is deceiving you. It's only 14" from my face.

As for placement, the mic is standing straight with the capsule perfectly level and perpendicular to my mouth at a 45° angle to avoid plosives. It is precisely 6" from my mouth.

The original audio was peaking below -6db and was normalized for the video. The WAV file will confirm this. No EQ, compression or other effects were applied. I strive for accurate capture and do my best. I apologize for the video footage skewing this representation and I hope this helps clarify any misgivings.

I'm not saying it's not a good practise to do so or that the mic sounds nothing but good, but at about 1 min when you say "I can switch it ..." and turn towards the mic the sound get brighter at that moment.
