Anyone ever figured out biasing for the FET in the ECM-50? I would imagine that weeny little transformer in the power module is the weakest link in the mic's sound. With phantom power, the module puts 2.5v on the source and the drain is loaded directly by the xfrmr to gnd. Would simply measuring the DCR of the trafo input give a useful value for a drain resistor?
Out of half a dozen capsules, I was able to cull a pair that are astonishingly quiet for a capsule so old and so small.
