Any comments on the original Svetlana Wing 'C' EF86 , these were used by former companies like Groove Tubes. Svetlana St. Petersburg was documented as acquiring manufacturing of former RCA. Although I don't recall a RCA EF86. Obviously not comparing to top three European NOS tubes, just overall consensus. Its also understood that a mic tube must be selected , problem confronting most buyers is how do you know your getting a suitable tube from new distribution , unless the tube has been prescreened and burned in properly by a qualified source.

Also, ask for photos if they are not provided. Here is a pair of "Siemens" EF86 which are actually Soviet 6Ж32П. You can tell by the pierced tin look of the plate and the very pointy pins. I have seen these branded Amperex and Mullard as well.

Amperex Bugle Boy, lower the screen voltage mount socket on rubber grommets, very expensive, don't waste your money. Buy ussr and spend savings on swansons 4 course chicken dinner. i bet you could buy 5 of them by going russian.

IMO, the best EF86 is a TFK version with a nickel plate, and can still be found on ebay for 15-20 Euros or less. None of the ones I bought when I needed them were discarded due to excessive noise or microphonics. All of today’s productions are a waste of money and time for me.
I made a quick search on eBay, and I don't know where you found TFK EF86 tubes for less than 20€ but certainly not there... The prices vary from 50 to almost 200€ for one piece.

That said, I need a matched pair of EF86 for my dual Redd47 preamp build, what would you advice me ?

Yes, much easier to find in Germany/Europe. But even buying from those sellers the shipping would make them expensive to USA, Australia, etc.

That was the answer to a member of the forum from France, but I agree with you. As well as type 301 (01 or 201) or 45 which can be bought mostly in USA are expensive to me because shipping up to USD 100 to my country.
Anyway, I only expressed my opinion and my taste as far as EF86 tubes are concerned. And I will never compromise a preamp (or microphone) made of very good parts (Sowters transformers, etc.) with today's production tubes. Just because they are easy to get and cheap (maybe not if 50% of them are not noise generators).
Here is a picture from EF86 box that I currently own and that I have tried and tested. EI and Philips EF86 and PF86 are in the other box.

What about NOS TESLA EF806S Gold pins ?
I have not seen old TESLA EF806S with gold pins, only “rhodium-plated” (polished chrome-like appearance). They may have experimented with gold plating during pre-production, but series production probably never had gold-plated pins… So most likely relabelled/faked tubes?

You're right, sorry, I made a confusion with NOS Tesla E88CC that I also need for my Redd47 and there's a version with gold pins. But what about EF806s... Are they worth a try ?
