Never tried or seen thoses ones, I just have experience with JJ tubes
Yes, TESLAs are usually very good esp. these special quality variants. But like all tubes, they need to be selected for mic applications from larger batches…You're right, sorry, I made a confusion with NOS Tesla E88CC that I also need for my Redd47 and there's a version with gold pins. But what about EF806s... Are they worth a try ?
Just to share my experience with JJ new production. I placed the order for 10 ECC83's, (Bürklin) just to give a try. I was shocked that just two of them measured 80% emision, other ones were 25-50%! Not to mention that non of them were matched inside (double triode). So, 8 from 10 ended in the trashJJ EF806s
I've tried Tesla ef806s, it has a more 'vintage' sound compared to ef86/pf86/ef802, the low end is more 'blooming', i think it would be great on drums!I know, I was talking about NOS TESLA EF806s
did national / bel ever make an ef86 , i have a genuine telefunken ef86 made in germany it's from a dynaco amp pull. it has the blue dimond stamp nos. one thing is i need to find it.I've tried Tesla ef806s, it has a more 'vintage' sound compared to ef86/pf86/ef802, the low end is more 'blooming', i think it would be great on drums!
I'm not sure about National / Bel making ef86, but i got a National ef802, which has no particular sound, it sounds like an amplified signal The most 'exotic' ef86 i have is from Trigon, it sounds pretty ok in a preamp, i havent tried it in a microphone yet!did national / bel ever make an ef86 , i have a genuine telefunken ef86 made in germany it's from a dynaco amp pull. it has the blue dimond stamp nos. one thing is i need to find it.

Hey mate. It's possible that I had a bad luck but the JJ ECC83's were terrible. Not regarding the triodes match but overall, poor emission on both halves.Hi Bro, I can't talk about the emission measurement, but they're not suppose to be matched.
Banzai sells JJ 12AX7 macthed tubes for a few euros more.
I only buy those and those were always good, there's also the premium version of 12AX7 with Gold Pins.
I never ever had the problems you describe with JJ EF806S, those were always top notch.
best regards
I've got a National EF86 which I'm using as a test tube for my Redd47 builddid national / bel ever make an ef86 , i have a genuine telefunken ef86 made in germany it's from a dynaco amp pull. it has the blue dimond stamp nos. one thing is i need to find it.
I had a lot of problems with the JJ EF806S tubes.
High noise level and intermittent crackling sounds.
Some even had such a high noise level that they were unusable.
I have also not been impressed with JJ new production tubes. However, EH and Sovtek I have found to be remarkably good and consistent.Just to share my experience with JJ new production. Only the Russians make good tubes these days.I was pinning my hope on JJ production. After my experience I really don't see the bright future in EU vacuum tubes production.
Oliver Archut's notes on these are linked in post #50 aboveHas anyone tried the Russian Tung-Sol EF806S?
The late Oliver Archut told me in a phone conversation no one would replicate the AC701 mic tube without taking short cuts which would compromise the integrity and quality compared to a Telefunken AC701.The late Oliver Archut dissected some new production EF806 and ran some tests about fifteen years ago. He was not impressed. Construction details and performance that did not conform to original spec, contaminants inside the tube impacting performance, etc.
See his observations at the links below:

Re: NewTung-Sol EF806SG Tubes- Any Good?
Have things improved in the last decade and a half? Maybe, but if so I've not seen anyone duplicate these tests and present evidence that this is the case
Thus far, I don't think he's been proven wrong. The late Oliver Archut told me in a phone conversation no one would replicate the AC701 mic tube without taking short cuts which would compromise the integrity and quality compared to a Telefunken AC701.
