Two queries in one post & I'm glowin' in the dark neon green, I'm that
stumped: maybe some have seen and implemented Rod Elliots VU/PPM
amp/buffer circuit. How and where would the circuit change using a
100uA or 200uA meter movement in place of the 50uA Rod calls out?

http://sound.westhost.com/project55.htm

I know this circuit isn't needed in the 1176; looked for specs for the
Sifam AL29, found only detailed specs for the AL20 (perhaps spec is for
both?)

Will a 100uA meter calibrate correctly in the 1176 meter driver circuit?
Read through a few threads and searched a bit, found nothing so far
specifically regarding the meter.

Have some big 4.5" Russian 100uA meters and some very nice German
200uA meters that I believe were transmitter or receiver modulation
meters, would love to implement them but confess dufus status re:
metering. Google sprint revealed:

http://web.onetel.net.uk/~peterphmusic/pharri5833/metering.htm

and other such theoretical reading, also starting at pg 823 RDH4. Still
thick on it though.

From Elliot's website:

If the [meter] you get is markedly different [from the 50uA one specified in the article], you may need to adjust the 4.7k and 220 Ohm resistors (R6, R7 and R8) so that full scale is achieved in VU mode with an input of 5V into the speaker input.

I say try it out and experiment!

Peace,
Al.
