going to try a few of these circuits,

there was a Mk 1 and Mk 2, the Mk 1 used ECC81/12AU7 preamp tubes which is different,

do not know how accurate these schematics are as they are traced out,

circuit for PI section looks like a 12AX7 circuit instead of 12AU7, good thing about tubes is you just swap to find out in less time that it takes to score an ounce at Bud Commander.

here is the Mk 2 version,

22K plate resistors are more suited to a 12AU7 in V1, but we will try both,

V2 looks like it should have a dis-similar triode tube like a 12AX7 on one side and a 12AU7 on the other due to the plate resistors being so different.
I built this guy last night and it is pretty crunchy.

Mk2 pwr amp, note ultralinear OPT,

Mercury sells the OPT, can't vouch, Maybe Shep Proudfoot can vouch,

V3 plate resistors look normal for a 12AX7,

note F/B adds a cap across resistor, and resistor value different,

mk 2 supply has 250 instead of 150 for first resistor and 4.7K instead of 1K for second,

ok i built this thing, it sucks,

breaks up too soon, so will probably not take stomp boxes too well.

so i am onto a Watkins Dominator Mk 3.

This is the Dave Davies amp that was used (I think) for the first kinks album.

I’ve been playing around with a 18 w el84 amp (Standel) for a few years and it’s kind of crunchy but not in a good way. Tube amps! You can’t live with them, can’t live without them.

Have read a small green Elpico was the amp that had the speaker slashed up and was slaved to an AC30 to get the nastiness on "You Really Got Me"
