I wasn't sure where to put this but thought I'd share. I first bought one of these mic pres a couple decades ago--it was cheap at GC & I was pretty clueless. I used it a lot, sold it or lent it, then picked up another a few years back. & I liked it--small, useful, rugged, and sonically neutral in a pleasing way. But I never knew what was inside because you needed security bits to get the thing apart. Well....I picked one up with a broken IEC socket & decided to pick up a set of security bits in order to replace the socket & have a peek inside. It's a pretty busy circuit in there--based around the SSM2017, which was what I suspected.
