I've seached high and low on the net for a definitite, specific approach to modifying the Federal AM864/U to vary attack and release times. As I understand, the stock 1uf cap paralleled with a 2M resistor give the user a 2 sec release, and the 47K resistor in series with C1 sets the attack time at 47ms. I saw one guy subbed a .1uf cap C1 for the 1uf and raised the 47K R11 to 470K, which should provide a 47ms attack, and used a 2M pot with a 1M resistor to get 100ms to 300ms release. Seems it should be possible to use a similar approach with R11 to vary attack time, via a fixed resistor and pot to vary R11's value. I'm quite curious how TJ Schmidlin accomplished this on his Fed+ unit? He offers the stock attack and release times with the pots all the way off, and them turning them up makes both faster, which suggests an approach like I'm contemplating.
