I'm wondering if I need a separate foil shield for my mic inputs in the iso and drum room inputs for a project studio that I'm working on. I was planning on connecting the foil shield at the connection at the patch bay, and not at the panel.

ummmm
so there is a wire inside of the foil for the ground hook up right?

hook up the ground on both ends.

you must have a complete ground run on mic lines, as that is the
return path for 48v phantom power.

with out ground you condenser mics will be very very quiet
