Fostex 4050 & B16 help

I have a Fostex B16 tape machine with a Fostex 4050 controller.
The B16 works as i should, but not when connected with the 4050. It starts to live its own life; plays, stops, rewinds etc without touching any buttons.

Have anyone experienced this before and might know whats wrong. If its the cable between the machines or if the 4050 is just broken.

I suppose the first thing you would need is a schematic of the Fostex 4050.
Without it, it looks like finding a needle in a haystack...

The 4050 is a machine synchroniser, do you have all the bits? Do you have the manual? RTFM!
