G-1176 compressor-limiter amplifier

I'm actually thinking about building an 1176LN with the G-1176 board from analogclassics. There's one thing still bugs me:
On the schematic from analogclassics.com, the 3 position Vu switch indicates: GR +8 and +4.
On the other hand, the front panel normaly used by DIY people, and suggested by analogclassics also, indicates: GR Vu and ByPass.
Is anybody can clarify that for me ?
