Ok, good news. I replaced the 4 diodes and 2 transistors (q7,q8) and everything works. Score!  Thanks everyone that helped out with this. One final question, when I press the pad switch there is an audible pop whether it is turned on or off. Is this normal for this unit? I've never seen that before.  It seems to do it with the mic switch as well.

Ok, so it seems to only do this when phantom is engaged. I understand there would be a little pop, like when turning phantom on or off, but should it be loud enough to damn near clip the converter? I saw the thread on here about someone having the same problem but there didn't seem to be a resolution in the next couple pages.
