A friend of mine asked me to help him bulid a headphone amp, Grado RA1, that uses an op-amp JR4556. I looked around in my stuff and found a couple of JRC4558 op-amps used inte the Ibanez tube screamer where they said that that JRC4558 were the real deal.

Question now is if I can use these JRC4558 in the Grado RA1?

Or are the JR4556 or e3ven OPA2134 far better?

Thanks

/John

The 4556 is a HIGH-current 4558.

4558 will be fairly lame in 100-Ohm phones and real lame in anything lower. Most 'phones today are 24-40 Ohms.

You really want the 4556.

Thank you PRR. Good to know =)

Ricardo… I am not designing just merely copying in this case =) But I will read =)
