hello...where to start???

hi everyone..
just came across this forum searching for second hand recording gear (found the fairchild threads....yummy!!!!!!!!)...looks like im gonna be hangin here for a while ;D
i see the forum rules state that ive gotta search before i ask any noob questions, but i was wondering if anyone could point me towards some good threads to start me off....
i run a recording studio and would be very interested in making some highend preamps, compressors, eq's, i currently own neve, manley voxbox,buzz audio arc1.1, ssl xrack (summing only), focusrite blue 230, distressor, focusrite 828, drawmer 1960.......so something to compliment these tools....master buss comp/eq
although i spent quite a few years milling using cnc machines my engineering/soldering skills are pretty limited so i was wondering if anyone could advise on some good threads to read to get up to scratch....(ie started!!!)
