Looking for a bit of urgent advice, the mains transformer in my Italian top of the range Ketron synth..keyboard gave up the go tonight. Its rated at 16.2v + 16.2v at 0.6 amps and a seperate winding of 12volts at 3 amps. Chances of getting a replacement soon may be slim so i thought it may be possible to buy 2 transfomers from Radiospares, one for 12volts at 3 amps, but the sticky bit is the 16.2v +16.2v, i was wondering if i dare risk an 18 0 18 or would a 15 0 15 be better? Thought of mounting them on a seperate box and running flying leads. What do you think? Perhaps i could get away with non toroids if its not mounted in the synth. Playing at a massive wedding on friday night so may have to take a chance.

Well, much has to do with whether or not the internal supplies are regulated. If they are, there's likely no harm in using a replacement xfmr with a slightly higher secondary voltage, so long as the voltage rating of the input filter caps--prior to the regulator--will not be exceeded.

Thanks Dave
I'll see if i can get the transformers and hash something up, its all regulated so should be ok.
Many Thanks
