Help with fine tuning Fuzz circuit Please

Thanks for the links, but actually, I was more looking into adding a filter to the fuzz face circuit mentioned in my first post...to learn about filtering and to be able to use any PSU.
I might use your idea for my breadboard though

I am FAR from an expert on this topic, but I recall reading a few articles that the sound of Ye Olde fuzz units was influenced by the then-available batteries. For general uses, the only choices were the old carbon-zinc products by Eveready, etc. Allegedly, those batteries had a higher internal resistance/impedance compared to the current alkalines and fancier batteries.
