ok. here's what is probably a simple question.

i have a lovely grab-bag of audio trannies (input and output) but i need to know how to figure out their specs.

how do i figure out if a trannie is an input or and output trannie? and how do i figure out what it does? (ie. 600ohm > 10kohm? or 1:2? 1:6.45?)

obviously i ain't looking at determining THD or frequency response - just the actual windings on the iron!

i did try measuring them - resistance of one side, then the other. i also tried that with an OEP 3E (1+1:6.45+6.45) - the results were inconclusive . . . or i didn't know how to translate the results!

i await advice :)

i can produce tone through protools or as slate off the console, and i can grab a software oscilloscope - don't have access to a hardware scope.

i was kind'a thinking i should surely be able to use a DMM to measure . . .

Couldn't find it in a search, but then i remembered I have a print copy with the URL at the top, sweeeet.

Hopefully that helps.

Hi Chris,

So how many trannny do you have now?

at last count i have like 26 of em sitting here not including the marinair order..... phew...

i ended up with a stack of extras from rick too!

good to see you are figuring out what to do with em.

p.s - i'm hooking up some custom cases from purusha in the near future (dual1176 with cutout for ricks sifams) ill let you know how it goes!

hi spacecho

yeah, these are from rick. damn him and his black heart!

i've got the la2a awaiting a source for t4b's. but i've got trannies for them.

i've got input and otputtrannies for a pair of baby animals, but have yet to order partly because i need to figure out what input trannies i'm using so we can figure out the variable impedance.

going to order some more boards from gustav, too - just to keep me busy.

and i decided it was time for a refresher on guitar, so i grabbed a red SG.

idle hands make the devils work.

chris.
