I've been building and modding stomp boxes and tube amps for about 5 years now, but I'm just now getting into microphones and I really know very little about them.  I'm currently trying to remedy that by reading everything I can find.  Anyway...

I have an Studio Projects SB1.  I just bought an RK-47 capsule from Microphone Parts that I'm going to put in it.  Any suggestions as to other things to do to this mic while I have it apart?

Also, I have an old MXL 990 laying around that is rarely used because I just don't care for it.  I replaced the ceramic input cap with styrene and I'm going to replace the capsule that's in it with the one out of the SB1, as I thought my SB1 sounds good, just not great.  Will that capsule perform okay in this mic?
