Hi

just finishing up my AML1073  and have used a case from Collective Cases
Can anyone in the UK recommend a source for IEC mains inlet which will fit the 1U collective cases rack ?

Ideally I am trying to find a compact filtered IEC inlet with mains switch in built but am having trouble sourcing something to fit without butchering the existing cutout in the case and doing some metalwork.

Cheers

I don't think a compact version exist. The IEC inlet is a standardized A/C power connector. Like all connectors, the male is designed to "mate" with the female. Regardless if one is slightly different in overall size and shape, has features like a main rocker switch, a fuse box, an EMI filter circuit, etc.

There aren't many IEC inlets with a mains filter at a sensible price. You might be better off using a standard inlet and a separate filter

This is the IEC inlet I have standardised on. It's available at Farnell & CPC - check both for the best price:

I use this one, manufactured by BIT Electronics in South Korea. Cost lower than most filtered A/C power inlets.
It doesn't have a fuse box and a main switch tho, which are OK for me, because I prefer a main switch that's accessible from the front, and also because I'm using a switching power supply which already has a main fuse mounted on-board.

Thanks all
Found one in my parts stash with inbuilt fuse and just fitting a separate mains switch
Cheers anyway
