Hi guys,

I've always had problems with the brass inserts on SIFAM collet knobs 'spinning' on particular shafts.

It is mainly an issue when using them on stiff rotary switches, like the uraltone type.

What happens is the collet insert starts turning without moving the rotary switch.

This isn't a problem on D shape shafts where the brass insert can grab the corners of the shaft, which stop it from spinning.

Has anyone experienced this and have a suggestion on how to deal with it?

In the past I've used some strong adhesives on the shaft which does work, but it is far from elegant.

Sounds like you are using 1/4 inch knobs on 6mm shafts. That is always a problem.
Secondly, if your switch is so hard to turn that the collet moves, you need to reduce the spring pressure in the switch.
I'll bet you overtighten your mike stands too!

And if that is the case, the cure is to get those small brass sleeves that slide over a 6mm shaft and build them out to a quarter inch.

Cheers

Ian
