Is this transformer ringing bad?

Hello I injected a 600hz Square Wave. Measuring with my oscilloscope, Tamura ga80071 transformer inside the Presonus Eureka. I am getting this weird square wave look on my new siglent 1104x-e.

I think you'll always get that kind of "ringing" if you send a square wave into a transformer...

Depending on the level, of course. So, at what level was the square wave?
 
Input or output xfmr?

Ratio?

I bet input, maybe 1:4 with that ring, is all circuitry removed from PRI and sec?

Put scope on SIG gen output to see if it is holding its own without ringing,

Check at 1 kc, 10kc and 100 kc and maybe 1 mc for kicks,

Check for peaks and valleys above 20 kc,

Hi CJ it is a Mic Input Transformer by Tamura.
Ive read it is 600:3000, so wouldn't that be 1:5?

I got the transformer from a friend, who took it out of a Yamaha PM-1000. Here is the schematic of that input.

I am using my computer headphone out as a signal generator, and Logic Pro test oscillator square wave (anti aliasing on), as a signal generator. It only goes to 20,000 hz.

Should I just get one of these?

@AUDIO FREQ ...are you measuring the transformer in some sort of circuit (preamp???....whatever) or just sitting by itself on the test bench? If the latter, perhaps it would require some sort of loading on the secondary for proper performance.

"Loading" might be a resistor or a Zobel.

If it is a mic input transformer then it is probably designed for best performance when driven from a 150 ohm source. Drive it from a much lower source impedance (like a headphone amp) and it will certainly ring. Try repeating the experiment with a 150 ohm resistor in series with the primary.
