Joe Meek SC2 compressor rev. 1.07 questions

Hi,

Have an opportunity to get a Joe Meek SC2 Comp Rev. 1.07, but haven't exactly jumped on the deal as I have read some bad things about them (mainly that the photo cells weaken over time and get out of alignment, affecting the L/R balance).

With the above problems with the 1.07, would it make sense to just hold out for another of the other versions (excepting the 1.05 as that one's probably going to be the most expensive due to its rarity/sound)?

OR...

Can the 1.07 be fixed easily wrt the photo cells weakening/going out of alignment? Anyone work on one suffering from this?

Dunno about this issue, but maybe ask the designer himself:

He`s very helpful. I once needed a replacement switch and he has been of great service
although he`s no longer affiliated with Joemeek gear (now PMI Audio).
