The capsule shield isn't making good contact with the body... I have used scotch brite on all the mating surfaces... still same problem.

Has anyone had one of these things cause a problem like this?

I would suspect the cable ground, PSU ground etc...

Nahhh... it

then why did you ask here? If your so certain then maybe there is a bent pin or for some other reason the d-sub that mates the two is not going in all the way or what have you

:) hmmm.... It's cause i have a Korby kat that has a specific problem, just trying to see if anyone else has come across the same thing.

There are no pins that are bent nor a d-sub.

do you own, or have access to an ohm meter? You could be doing all this question answering yourself.

Good Lord! ;-)

Yes, I have many flukes... a few tech scopes. I even have a whole bunch of brain cells... What I don't have is someone with a Korby Kat that has had a similar situation.

I love this place, I really do... I hope this is taken in good fun!

I'm still confused by your post... it seems (and forgive me if I'm way off base here) that you're looking for someone to solve your problem for you.

What are you measuring as far as continuity between head basket and case? less than one ohm? several ohms?

You're not going to get far with troubleshooting by asking "I have this specific problem and don't have any details as to what I've done to troubleshoot it so far... does anyone have an answer to my problem?"

Sorry to be blunt but I'm just trying to help you... help us... help you?

I hear ya... here are the facts

1. The Korby Kat is a "Two part" mic.
2. The top part, known as the "capsule" is made of metal.
3. The bottom part, known as the "body" is made of metal.
4. The Capsule shell needs to be at ground.
5. It achieves this through "outside contact" with the body at the "joining" seam.
6. There are NO wires, d-subs, snakes, jumpers, pins, etc... that "bring" ground to the capsule shell.
7. The joining seam can be "pressed", "tilted", "moved" to make intermittent contact, thereby "giving" ground to the capsule shell and fixing the problem (which as you may remember is ground hum)
8. totally open between the "headbasket and case" unless you follow #7
9. I tried cleaning the mating surfaces... it helped, but didn't solve it.
10. ""I have this specific problem and don't have any details as to what I've done to troubleshoot it so far... does anyone have an answer to my problem?""

ummm.... actually - The capsule shield isn't making good contact with the body... (**waring** details!!)  "I have used scotch brite on all the mating surfaces... still same problem.

Warning ** not looking for "does anyone have an answer to my problem?" LOOKING FOR "Has anyone had one of these things cause a problem like this? A SPECIFIC PERSON WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM.

Love you!
