Korg SV-1 maintenance question

Anybody know why everybody says that the tube in the SV-1 isn't user serviceable? I find it hard to believe that I couldn't figure it out, but they've got me treading lightly. I've only had this thing a month and the tube is kicked. I'm sure it's a fluke, but still, I'm going to need to be able to switch them out myself or it's gonna get expensive. Anyone had any experience with this?

Not quite as rare as hens teeth !

Just to ask, How do you know its the tube ? seems unlikely imho as its a month old !!

Its new send it back under warranty ,Get an RMA from korg........You know it makes sense

Not quite rare at all. It's an EH too, I have a bag full of suitable replacements, most of which might even sound better.

I'm 95% sure it's the tube because A) it doesn't light anymore, and B) the amp simulator section doesn't work, which is the only part that really concerns the tube, but the rest does.

I wish it was under warranty. I bought it as a demo/floor model and got a solid discount on it. which probably explains why the tube has some wear. It's also been transported a good deal already, and may have taken a bump (albeit within it's Gator case) that knocked the tube wonky.

My real question is, does anyone know any real reason why I shouldn't just switch this tube out. Do you think it's a biasing issue? If so, I could probably find the little trip pot with a little guidance. Anyone have any experience?

Try a known good one ,if no joy check the voltage on the heater pins......then if not present ....move backwards to the psu section
