I have a Lexicon PCM 41 that makes faint crackling noises non stop but only when the 200-400ms delay is selected.

It was making some other odd noises but i reseated most of the chips and they went away.

Wondering if anyone has any idea what could be causing this issue. Bad chip associated with that setting?

Thanks for any help!

faulty memory chips or a bad solder connection on a memory address line can cause nasty sounding distortion... longer delay is using more of the memory.

Thanks for bringing my attention to the memory chips. I pulled them and noticed some oxidation that I missed. Cleaned the pins and sockets and reinstalled(though not taking note of which came from which position). Either way it's working perfectly!

Nice Cobra! I sold my '98 GT and regret it every day.

I started having reliability issues and got too frustrated with repairs. Never saw the ABS light though.
I've repaired a bunch of minor faults and mechanically it's in pretty good shape.

The ABS unit is an early Bosch unit and it doesn't communicate with the fault code readers, so I am blind about what exactly is the malfunction. Research suggests that the Bosch unit will blink out a fault code to the idiot light with number of blinks corresponding to what is wrong, if one wire in the connector is grounded. The weather is too cold to be messing with this now and NOS replacement parts are not widely available.

The ABS brakes saved my front end from a crash, years ago when some butthole ran a red light in front of me cutting me off. I jammed on the brakes and cut my steering wheel hard right. The ABS brakes prevented skidding and allowed my front wheels to steer me at a right angle, safely away from a sure collision.

I have considered picking up maybe a 5 years old GT with 3rd generation coyote motor, or not.
