I m trying to understand vari mu circuits

Basically i would like to know about limiting low frequency response, in the vari mu and where this takes place ,is it done at the preamp or in the detector circuitry

How do? skal1 :!:

you're building poorman - right?
This is probably easiest mu to tap into. Not sure about loading but where sidechain transformer input winding, try breaking these connections and send to an eq/filter, then output of eq/filter back to the sidechain transformer input. You should now ba able to alter the frequency content in the sidechain.
Hope this helps - I not built my poorman yet, but will experiment when i get chance

thanks, i think my question was worded incorrectly , this what i meant, do the caps in the pre amp stage block frequecy.

sometimes people block some low frequency content in the interstage transformer or caps... To "cut off" more thumping that happens when the thing starts to act, but I don't know ifthat would be needed if the limiting tubes are well matched. I don't think it's hearable anyway most of the time, with reasonable matched tubes. Not on my compressors anyway...
