Hi,

For various upgrades I see the LM833 being recommended.
Just wondering - what are the benefits of using a LM833 over a '5532 ?

Thanks,

Peter

Lower distortion, but also lower output drive capability. making it good for high gain/low dist work, where high output drive is not important..

Thanks Jakob, for pointing this out. I hadn't realized the lower THD w.r.t. the '5532.

Hmm, so when I for instance build Kev's portable micpre I should take care when using/loading the unbal. out (pre-2142) or use a '5532 in that position.

Thanks,

Peter

I think it was this one that Fred Forssel was recomending to me as a 5532 alternative for a project upgrading TL072's.

At one time I remember there being concern about the LM833 as a low noise replacement if required to drive a heavy load... the output drive was rather asymmetrical as compared to other dual chips.
