M-audio Sputnik (electric noise when switch to -10db) need help!

if someone know about this problem and can help I be glad,
before I give it back to the store

I just buy mic M-audio Sputnik. and everything is good
only when I switch the pad from 0 to -10db I start hear electric noise and its not gone
(I can hear my voice)
I try to plug in the mic to mixer without soundcard and also to monitors
but still have noise

What are the chances the pad capacitor is a ceramic one, and it's on its last leg?

I've "de-noised" a couple mics this past month, just by replacing the ceramic caps with film ones.
