Nice. Noise and gain looks like a drop in replacement for 2SK170.

What does "maybe as a follower" title mean?

Gate capacitance is an issue with jfet used in microphone voltage gain stages. As a follower it is less of an issue.
Another thought is maybe the gate diodes could be used like in AT microphones
