Does not look like Selenium in that picture.
If forced to guess, I'd say it is plain Silicon in a package I never saw before.
Figure out what it is doing. Volts. Amps. Up-size the Voltage a lot because it doesn't cost much today. Over-size the current a LOT so it won't fail again like it did after only 30 years.
